"Take a chaturanga, or go back to downward facing dog". Chances are that you have heard this said in a yoga class, but what does it mean? Chaturanga is an advanced movement that takes a strength in order to be done correctly. So why is it often called out in class without much explanation? Understand how the shoulders work in one of the most challenging, yet misunderstood movements in yoga. Each student will learn how to move through high plank, low (or to the ground) plank, a backbend of either upward facing dog or cobra, and the foundational pose of downward facing dog based upon their unique body.
